Gang Green You Got It and BrewDog Hardcore IPA
Metal genre: Crossover
Beer style: Explicit Imperial Ale
Ingredients: A ridiculous amount of both hops and malt, a whole lotta attitude and angry skate punks who wanna get wasted.
Tasting notes: Crossover isn’t about musical expertise or virtuosity, it’s about cranking everything into the red and letting it rip, with a little hat tip to the metal side (heavy) and a hat tip to the punk side (sloppy and raw). BrewDog’s Hardcore IPA isn’t about subtlety; it’s about three chords, a breakneck rhythm and a who-knows-how-this-will-end attitude. Gang Green’s gnarly, metal-inspired skate punk offers the same intoxicating experience with songs like the classic “L.D.S.B.” (Let’s Drink Some Beer).
Why they go together best: Beer and punk rock have always gone together, but the days of Older Budweiser are history. Drinking cheap, shitty, mass-produced beer just doesn’t cut it when you can savage your palate the same way you’re savaging your ears. Not only that, but at 9.2% ABV you don’t need to pound a dozen beers to get wasted, when a few of these will do the trick. No need to mix it up in the pit, this brew will lay you flat on your ass, without all the sweat and how’d-that-get-there bruises.
