Cave In’s Steve Brodsky has been known to do some, how shall we say, eclectic music over the years. Whether it’s his main gig in Cave In, the ultra-heavy band Mutoid Man, with Converge’s Ben Koller, or his seemingly endless solo projects (Pet Genius, Stove Bredsky, Octave Museum, etc.), Brodsky is never a slouch in the songwriting department.
Now thanks to the ongoing hardcore 7″ compilation series, All About Friends Forever, we get a special exclusive premiere of Brodsky doing the Willie Nelson tune “The Ghost.” No, it’s not a space rock or first-wave metalcore version of the song, it’s just Brodsky and his guitar doing ol’ Willie some justice.
Volume five of All About Friends Forever is available for pre-order now and also features San Diego bands The Firebird Suite and Impel (yes, the ’90s Impel), along with… wait for it… an unreleased Waxwing demo track! (The folks at All About Friends Forever have also promised us an exclusive stream of the Waxwing track when it’s available, and we’ll be holding them to it!)
The 7″ is limited to 150 copies on colored vinyl and comes with a 16-page zine.
Previous volumes of the 7″ series, produced by longtime zine-maker and Seattle punk Carrie Whitney and her husband and former New York City promoter Rich Hall, included the likes of Botch, Nineironspitfire, Trial, Indecision, Threadbare, and many other hardcore band names that will make the past two decades come flooding back.
