We here at Rice and Bread Magazine think that there are not nearly enough slow-core bands. Yes, there’s Duluth, Minnesota’s now-legendary slow-core masters Low, and there’s Shores from Grand Rapids, Michigan, oh, and San Fran’s Red House Painters, of course, we can’t forget about them. But as for a Canadian representation of slow-core, we know not of many, if any.
Enter Winnipeg three-piece Slow Dancers and their debut album, Day After Rain, out now on Disintegration. Featuring nine tracks of lumbering, majestic entrancement, the album is a perfect introduction into this band’s firm grasp on the art of patience.

Featuring Disintegration co-owner Greg MacPherson on backing vocals and baritone guitar (MacPherson has since left the band), the album sees guitarist/vocalist Jesse Hill, drummer Cole Woods and bassist Marie-France Hollier mastering the art of understatment.
If you’re lucky, these guys might be coming to a town near you to lull you to sleep with a beautiful bedtime song. (Hint: Smuggle an iced double espresso into whatever venue they’re playing.)
