A music festival is a marathon, not a sprint. To successfully finish the race, every experienced festival attendee needs to be prepared and have the tools to stay fed and hydrated, with the goal of avoiding burnout before the festival is over.
Calgary, a blooming culinary destination, is the home of Sled Island Festival and a multitude of eats and drinks at nearly every price range.
To help you make your way through Sled Island, we decided to arm you with our picks for great food in Calgary.
Boogies Burger
Boogies Burgers was a stop for us a couple times last year during Flood Island, I mean Sled Island. Burgers have become another casualty of the gourmet movement. While there are some tasty fancy burgers out there, there is something to be said for a traditional cheeseburger with great toppings at a good price. But if you want something crazy, something beyond the ordinary burger, Boogies has that, too. For example, Doug’s “Don’t Fear the Reaper” with a massive four patties, four slices of bacon, an all-beef wiener, cheddar cheese, a fried egg, oh, and topped off with a mini corn dog. A burger like that will keep you fed for the whole festival.
