The stories of the best t-shirts at Sled Island Festival

Like all super nerdy music fans, we’ve always got an eye out for sweet band t-shirts at concerts and music festivals. And while Gainesville’s The Fest has the largest number of great band shirts per music festival capita, Calgary, Alberta’s 2014 edition of Sled Island, which took place in the Western Canadian city June 18-22, did an admirable job in the band t-shirt department.

Here are some of the most notable shirts we spotted, and the folks behind them:

What does your shirt mean to you?
This is the same Jawbreaker shirt I’ve had since high school. They were my favourite band then and they’re still pretty much my favourite band now. I’ve worn it unfrequently enough and treated it well enough that it’s survived probably 20 years now.

Would you sell it?
I’d never sell it. I might be in the market for a replacement a couple years from now, but it’s means too much to me. And it’s also cool because in a day and age where you can buy Ramones shirts in generic places in the mall, wearing a Jawbreaker shirt definitely lets people know what you’re into and it’s like a secret club membership card.
