There’s something about those early food memories that keep us coming back for more. Despite the fact that Palms and former Isis drummer Aaron Harris has traveled the world eating great food and drinking good beer, when we asked him what he’d pick for his hypothetical last supper he still found himself returning to the flavours of his childhood.
If you were on death row and only had one meal left on earth, what would you choose? And what beer would you pair it with?
Oh man. I would probably order a lobster roll because, being from Maine, it’s probably one of my favourite things, and I would probably pair it with a beer from Portland, Maine beer. I would get Allagash Brewing Company white beer.
I’ve never had a Maine lobster roll. What is it about it that makes it so iconic and sought after?
It’s just a staple, you know, like if you’re in New Orleans, you’d want a catfish po’ boy. Being in Maine, the lobster roll is just the staple. If you’re going to Portland or Maine, you just have to get a lobster roll, especially if you like seafood.
Palms released their self-titled debut album in 2013 on Ipecac Recordings. The Los Angeles-based band, featuring Harris, two other former Isis members and Deftones’ frontman Chino Moreno, will be hitting the road for a southwestern tour in September.
