Death Row Dinner 0

Just give Steve Adamyk a big tray of egg rolls and he’s done

Steve Adamyk, vocalist/guitarist in the aptly named Steve Adamyk Band, is quick to reveal his final meal request. In fact, it’s a subject him and his Ottawa band once broached while driving down the highway to their next show. And, like a lot of our Death Row Dinner guests, Adamyk keeps his request simple and to the point.

Adamyk: You know, it’s funny, because we’ve actually talked about this as a band before. I don’t know why, but it’s definitely happened. For me, it was big tray, like a 24-pack, of egg rolls.

Oh wow.
Yeah, I love them. I don’t know what it is, but I’ve loved them ever since I was a kid. But our drummer, Dave Forcier, insisted that his would be movie popcorn, which I thought was a pretty good answer, too.

I find it hilarious that when we do this Death Row Dinner feature, people usually ask for one thing, like, “I want a big trough of macaroni and cheese,” but really you could have whatever you wanted. Like, you could have a six-course meal. But instead people are like, “No, give me all the popcorn.”
Yeah, like give me something specific that you’d be embarrassed to have as a meal otherwise.

So a big tray of egg rolls… I can’t even imagine how you’d get all of those down.
Uhhh… I’ve done a lot of them before [laughs]. I probably couldn’t do the whole tray, but I could get pretty close.

Are you the guy that goes to the Chinese buffet and just loads up a plate of egg rolls to start?
I haven’t had one in a really long time from a Chinese buffet, but maybe, who knows? [Laughs]

So, that’s it then. A big tray of egg rolls. I like that. Nothing to go with it? No drink?
I’d probably need some water. Nothing fancy though, just focusing on what’s important.

Something to wash all of those egg rolls down, I guess.
Yeah, exactly.
