Josh Martinez orders takeout from Chinatown in Vancouver

Portland-by-way-of-Vancouver hip-hop “People’s Champ” Josh Martinez names one of Rice and Bread’s favourite Vancouver restaurants in his Death Row Dinner request. The former Halifax resident also wants some east coast lobster thrown in.

I don’t know what you’re being sentenced to death for, but you’re on Death Row and you’re about to get your last meal. What do you ask for?
In Vancouver’s Chinatown there’s a restaurant called Phnom Phen; it’s a Vietnamese/Cambodian place. They have these chicken wings and they are absolutely the greatest thing ever made. There’s usually a lineup around the block just to get in the restaurant. If you go at the right time and get in, it’s the best food ever. So, some Cambodian chicken wings, some chai iced tea, because I love the weird milk mix with the super-strong black tea. And, shit, if I’m going down, I’m going down green, so definitely want my kale covered in balsamic vinegar and tahini, ’cause I’m weird. And lobster from the east coast to represent. So, that’s it… chicken wings, kale, lobster and chai iced-tea. Oh yeah, and a breath mint.

A breath mint, eh?
I don’t need shitty breath. I got things I want to do in the afterlife and I don’t want to have a shitty mouth.

Josh Martinez’s Blotto is available now via Camobear Records on Bandcamp.
