“It’s gotta be the shells” for Pentimento’s Mike Hansen

Mike Hansen, drummer for Buffalo, NY melodic hardcore band Pentimento, says his last meal would be a complete junk food binge.

Mike: My final meal would consist of just an ungodly portion of Popeye’s fried chicken. That would be first on the list. I would then take an entire box of Velveeta macaroni, and for a drink I would have a normal can of Dr. Pepper. And for dessert I would like an entire cake.

[Laughs] What kind of cake?
It would have to be just a plain yellow cake with vanilla frosting.

Nice. I like how you went the total junk food route on this one. That’s pretty awesome.
Well, I’m going to fucking die, so I would rather eat to the point where I’d rather be dead, anyway. And then there’s just that sweet release and it’s all good.

Did you say Velveeta and macaroni? Like mac and cheese?
Yeah, but it’s the Velveeta brand with shells. I’m very, very specific. It has to be that.

It can’t be Kraft Dinner or it would throw everything off?
No, I’m not going to do the Kraft. I mean there’s the shapes, the Spongebob, the whatever, but I’m an adult, and especially if I’m a hardened criminal where I did something terrible enough to land me in prison and on death row, it’s gotta be the Velveeta shells. That has to happen.

Pentimento‘s latest EP, Inside the Sea, is out now on Paper + Plastick Records.
