Destruction-inspired tournedo steak latest creation from Chef Hurkes

Perfect Pairings Destruction EternalTournedodish

Dish: The Destruction Eternal Tournedo (photo: Chef John Hurkes)

Ingredients: Blackened tournedo steak, German pale ale bier’naise, fried sweet potato angel hair, roasted red pepper, mustard oil, demi-glace and toppled bread towers.

destructioneternaldevastationAlbum: Destruction’s Eternal Devastation - The second speed-laden full-length from Germany’s thrash legends, straight out of 1986.

Tasting notes: Here comes climate change; a tournedo of beer and thrash laying waste to fine-dining tables. Heavy metal invades the atmosphere. You’ll just have to eat this dish standing up and head-banging. The dish is the fusion between old-school ’80s thrash and classic European cuisine. Just like the album, each mouthful has been Schmier-ed in the delicious bier sauce. Buzzsaw guitars rip through the steak as the sweet potato angel hair is wind-milled over the top, a la guitarist Mike Sifringer’s blazing solos. When the mustard oil attacks, you’ll get hit with a flying fork as “Confused Mind” speeds past. The dish is paired eloquently with a glass of red wine or a German beer. As the bread towers are reduced to crumbs, dinner is fucking over. Because a life without food and metal is like a “Life Without Sense.”
