Dish: The Hipster Grinder (photo: John Hurkes)
Ingredients: Portobello mushrooms, peppers, onions, black bean croquettes, cheese fondue, and sliced habanero cheese.
Album: Carcass‘ Surgical Steel - The sixth studio delicatessen by the heavy physicians of gore metal.
Tasting notes: Welcome to the poser slaughter. Here we have a sammich created on a dark evening to quell the appetite of some unwitting hipsters. It’s an eight-inch vegetarian mouth-thrasher’s abattoir. The operation begins with the flambé of carefully severed sections of vegetables in a stainless steel frying pan. As the tissues soften, the final mount of execution is crucial as the croquettes are meticulously grafted into place. While the dish is being consumed, a complex enfilade of guitar riffs contend with a virtuosic flavor profile. Spicy notes of habanero are diminished by the swagger of blast beats and that classic Carcass groove. It pairs well with only the best IPA beer gravity drip in the operating room. This sandwich will easily bring any true thrasher to a mid-tempo eating rate, and hipsters to a stone-cold flatline.
