At Rice and Bread, we love Perfect Pairings. We love them so much that we have a whole feature devoted to them where Chef John Hurkes is constantly impressing us with his innovative and creative, heavy metal-inspired dishes, which bring food and music together.
A while back, another one of our contributors, Mike Seale, mentioned a Beastie Boys-inspired sandwich called the Ad-Rock Pang, created by Adam Horovitz (a.k.a. Ad-Rock) and New York sandwich destination Num Pang.
The sandwich captures the iconic New York staple pastrami on rye, with one of Rice and Bread‘s favourite foods on earth, Banh Mi. The sandwich features Mile End Deli smoked meat and a Vietnamese-inspired Russian dressing, and comes with a soda and bag of Wise Chips.
Because Rice and Bread is based on the West Coast, the chances of us making it to Num Pang before they stop serving this sandwich on April 17 are slim to none, but we’d encourage anyone and everyone who can to go and taste this, because it sounds delicious and the proceeds go to New York animal shelters.
