Two of our favourite solo performers over here at Rice and Bread are Chuck Ragan and Rocky Votolato. Both of them have appeared on previous editions of the Revival Tour and also happen to front two of our all-time favourite melodic punk bands, Hot Water Music and Waxwing, respectively.
So imagine our excitement levels when Ragan recently announced on his Twitter that he and Votolato would be releasing a split 10″ record. Aptly titled Kindred Spirit, the six-song EP features three tracks by each artist and will be available on SideOneDummy Records on June 2, 2015 with pre-orders available here.
Ragan is still touring his 2014 landmark album Till Midnight and will be in Austria and Germany in August, and Votolato recently released his latest album, Hospital Handshakes, and is currently touring Europe with Dave Hause and Chris Farren. But this new Ragan/Votolato split EP ups the chances of the two songwriters touring together again at some point, maybe even with another edition of the Revival Tour, which has been in hibernation since 2003? We can only hope…
