Rice and Bread went ahead and asked some pointed questions to one of the most notorious party bands alive: St. Petersburg, Florida’s Wolf-Face. [Warning: This article will shock and probably disturb younger readers. Some of the topics might even be things that parents should stay clear of due to the ongoing controversy of Werewolf/human relations.]
How did you guys come to be a band?
Michael J. Wolf: I got into music after high school years ago when basketball wasn’t working out anymore. Then I took a break from the music scene for a number of years due to drug and other addiction issues. Then a few years ago, I recorded what eventually became our self-titled EP and just started giving it out to my human friends and they seemed to like it. Eventually, one of my human friends offered me a show, so I called on some of my lycanthropic musician friends to be in Wolf-Face, we had a rad show and have been playing shows and recording new tunes ever since. A true rags to riches scenario.
Rain-Wolf: Michael J. recruited Wolf-Fart, then Fart recruited me after hanging out at the local 662 in St. Petersburg. Fart showed me 30 seconds of an EP track and I was hooked!
How often do you make sexual relations with the masks on?
Michael J. Wolf: I’m not sure what masks you’re referring to, but if you’re asking how often we please our lovers as humans versus our monstrous forms, for me it depends on the lover. Some of my mates like to try and tame the beast under the covers, but end up biting off a little more than they can chew, so we have to slow down and I make love as Michael J. instead of the “The Wolf.” Other lovers simply wanna get ravaged by the beast. There’s no shortage of excitement.
Rain-Wolf: I wish it were only a mask. It can get hairy when the transformation occurs mid-coitus.
Wolf-Fart: Mask?
If you were to have one last meal, what would it be?
Michael J. Wolf: Giordano’s stuffed crust pizza with meat inside!
Rain-Wolf: Some authentic queso con loroco pupusas, no question.
Wolf-Fart: This question hurts my head.
When traveling, what’s your go-to meal on the road?
Michael J. Wolf: So far, it depends on the town. In a place like Gainesville, aside from some killer taco and burrito places to hit up, I love some Five Star Pizza. A place like Orlando, we always hit up this kinda posh Chinese tapas place called Hawkers. We like to indulge in such fine dining on occasion. I think we’ve earned it.
Rain-Wolf: Gainesville: Reggae Shack, or The Jones B-Side, or Boca Fiesta or, when in doubt, Five Star! Ybor: Row Boat! St. Pete: Tacoson or Casita Taqueria, or if I’m drunk, that bodega in-between Fubar and Local 662! Miami: Whatever food truck is parked in front of Gramps Bar! Orlando: Hawkers or whatever food truck is parked in front of Will’s Pub, or just fill up on whiskey at Sneaky D’s! Oh and that one time we went to Austin, Texas we all had In-N-Out Burger and I had to have Migas at, uh, I think the place was called Tamale House and it ruled. Wolf-Fart was too hungover and loosened up in the seat from the night before to eat; he just slept in the van.
Wolf-Fart: If only Buc-ee’s convience stores existed outside of Texas!
What’s the one meal that you could eat daily?
Michael J. Wolf: Krispy Kreme!
Rain-Wolf: Tacos! Homemade or wherever or whatever, just gimme.
Wolf-Fart: There’s one I especially enjoy; it’s called dinner.
Please tell us about a dream that you had recently and how it’s affecting your daily life.
Michael J. Wolf: I had a dream that I no longer had my unique abilities and powers and was just your typical Joe Schmo, and I was no longer beloved by my peers. It was real boring. Then I woke up and realized I’m still an irresistibly sexy, undeniably talented and pitch-perfect musician, man and werewolf. Anyone who disagrees with that is simply wrong and can get bent!
Rain-Wolf: I had this dream that I double-booked myself for both school and work; like I had class on days that I was scheduled to go into work, and in the dream it’s something that I have done many times in the past without problems or issues. In the dream, I can’t figure out why I had done this to myself, or make any sense of why it seemed like a great plan, or how I kept doing it without any serious consequences. Then I wake up all super-stressed and realize, “Oh, I WORK at a school! This dream just made me feel really stupid,” and then I shower, or play Sega or whatever it is I do before I go in to work.
Wolf-Face’s Still a Son of a Bitch is out now on Mooster Records.
