When you start a brewery with a bunch of punk music lovers, and then hire a staff who are 20 percent musicians, you better expect there is going to be a lot of music playing in the office. With so much variety and exposure to new music, we wondered what albums have stood the test of time for one of Le Trou du Diable‘s owners, Isaac Tremblay.
You’ve mentioned in our interview with you that everyone listens to music in the office. What are some of your go-to albums to listen to when you’re at work?
Most of the time, I listen to bands that want to come and play our concert room. I put it on and listen to it with one ear while I work. Sometimes I go back to the classics like Wrong by Nomeansno, of course, and good old Anthrax. I’m a big Anthrax fan. I discovered this band Municipal Waste a few years ago, and I like to listen to that as well. I’m a big Cake fan as well. I like all kinds of music.
I’m sure with so many people listening to and playing music at the brewery you get exposed to a lot of different kinds of music, too.
Oh yeah, as I was saying, we’re in an environment with so many musicians and they will come in and say, “Hey man, have you listened to this album?” or, “Have you listened to that yet?” We lose a lot of time listening to music and watching YouTube videos of music at work.
It must be hard to get any work done sometimes.
Oh yeah, but I guess it’s part of being happy to come to work, and to share stuff with your coworkers.
