Flavoured popcorn is the Lonny Bohonos of snack treats. It used to show up once a year (in the form of a Christmas tin the size of a garbage pail) and get you really amped. Now Lonny’s pacing the bench of some mediocre Thunder Bay junior hockey team and popcorn is left riding the pine every year as some flashier European chocolate treat takes its spot in the holiday season munching lineup. Bohonos could have won the Leafs the Stanley Cup. Flavoured popcorn could have bumped nuts and bolts from the holiday season all-stars top line!
Okay, that last bit is crazy talk. No way nuts and bolts is ever losing its roster spot. Lonny though, he could have been great.
Enough Leafs talk. It’s depressing. Let’s talk about something uplifting, like these tasty P.B. Popps. Why the extra ‘p’? Maybe it stands for “poppin good fun,” because that’s what they are.
Earth Balance P.B. Popps are like the delicious offspring of a tryst between oatmeal cookie dough and Peanut Butter Toast Crunch. A little salty, a little sweet, and with a good mouth feel, as the Doritos product development team would say. In short: they’re kinda crunchy and they taste good. That’s all you really wanted to know right? Okay, I’m done here.
Worth breaking the budget? Remember when your high school P.E. teacher told you popcorn and pretzels were good, “healthy” alternatives to potato chips? He probably has hypertension now, but you can still let his lies comfort you as you annihilate a bag of P.B. Popps.
