Over here at Rice and Bread Magazine, we’ve talked about the relationship between heavy metal and beer via author Adem Tepedelen’s hand-picked pairings, and we’ve had a Minneapolis chef make us some metal-influenced dishes that would make the evil gods spiral into a jealous rage.
But when we heard about Chicago restaurant Kuma’s Corner and their sister outlet, Kuma’s Too, we knew we had to tell you about some of their signature burgers of the month, cleverly named after metal bands.
Every month the burger restaurant, which opened its initial location in 2005, creates two signature burgers inspired by some of their favourite bands. Because of their tasty offerings and choice taste in music, Kuma’s has hosted thousands of heavy-burger seekers from around the globe, using the simple slogan, “Support your community. Eat beef. Bang your head.”

Kuma’s Corner August burger of the month:
Code Orange (named after the Pittsburgh hardcore/metal band we recently featured here)
Kuma’s signature burger stuffed with chorizo and jalapenos with a cilantro aioli, topped with Chihuahua cheese, pico de gallo and tortilla strips.
Kuma’s Too August burger of the month:
Exhorder (named after the New Orleans thrash metal band)
Kuma’s singature burger with avocado spread, topped with breaded, deep-fried red bell pepper strips, seasoned ground beed and oueso fresco.
Other bands recently featured at Kuma’s via their signature burgers include Trap Them, Hark, Gallhammer, Corrections House, Valkyrie and even German hard rock legends The Scorpions.
